Oh my, how we love destination weddings… This one is no exception. We flew into the Caribbean island of St. Barth’s, where the sun was shining, the breeze was warm, and there’s that Caribbean turquoise/blue water surrounding us all. St. Barth’s is paradise, with a little bit of Europe thrown in the mix. The language is French, although we could get away with English. That didn’t stop us from throwing out “Bonjour!” or “Merci!” as much as we could. Everything was so lush and colorful- it’s no wonder celebrities like Beyonce own houses on that tiny island! (No, there wasn’t any celebrity sightings- and if you happened upon a celebrity by chance, the thing to do is act normal around them and not make a big deal.) It’s known by all the locals.
Okay enough about St. Barth’s- let’s talk about Alesha and Kyle, and their phenomenal intimate wedding! If you’re local to Charlotte NC, chances are you’ve heard of or had brunch at Little Spoon Eatery or Comida in Plaza Midwood. Alesha is the mastermind of both those eateries in Charlotte. Alesha and Kyle decided to do a destination wedding, and it couldn’t have been more perfect for them! This wedding was a little unique in that we didn’t get to meet Kyle too very much prior to their big weekend (we didn’t even get to do our usually required engagement session, despite them both being local), but spending even one half day with them – it was pretty obvious how these two crazy kids have tons of chemistry and love of life/adventure! Alesha and Kyle had a spectacular group with them and it was another one of those amazing situations we look forward to where we get to go “native” and become part of the family (both blood relatives and chosen ones). Add to that, we’ve worked with Alesha for a few years now in the food world and grown to call her a good friend ourselves, it all adds up to a full blown love fest on that stylish little island!
***Photogs note: We respect everyone’s choice on how they want to spend their best day ever- but I’m not gonna sit here and lie to you. Destination weddings are THE BEST. Here’s why- you spend your day(s) with your friends and family- the closest people you have surrounding you for adventure and fun. It’s more intimate and private, and from a photography standpoint- we are able to capture more intimate moments and details. It’s the same reason we love elopements! As photographers, we are basically a time machine, without the time travel of course. These moments that we capture are forever, so why wouldn’t you want to remember the day you got married with the most important people in your life? Everyone is relaxed, everyone is having a great time, it’s really wonderful.
The blog will start out with the most drool-worthy spread for Alesha’s bridal brunch. Then we’ll continue on with the wedding and into the night… we really hope you enjoy this breathtaking blog!
