Todd and Elizabeth came to us via a recommendation from one of our family clients. I have to say that Todd, enlisted in the Army National Guard, totally threw me a curveball. You see a sizable fellow, aware he’s in the armed services, and then see him go all mushy – I just didn’t expect it (but, man – I was happy for it – the results were awesome!)
We started our session off walking from the area near Church/I-277 on the north end (close to where they live) to the park across the street from the Blake Hotel… and that was before we shot a single frame! Shooting commenced at the park and moved up the road, stopping in front of a church, and moving on towards the Duke Energy building.
One of the places that produced some of my favorite lighting was a tiny little worker’s break area outside one building… the sun bounced off Duke and straight into that little courtyard. In the matter of 10 minutes, that perfect illumination was gone, so we lucked out in totally being at the right place at the right time.
Stops were made at the park on the green, Bechtler Museum, & the mural beside Rock Bottom Cafe before we made it back to the shared balcony of their apartment complex.
(This one, below, is one of my favorites for showing how playful they could really be – LOVE their own “monster faces” in front of what we’ve dubbed “the mirror monster”)
We flitted all over Charlotte and I can say that this couple proved to be great sports – dipping, kissing, hugging, holding, laughing, jumping, and even making monster faces along the way – all the things I could ever ask out of engagement session!!
