So to kick off our blog with its first official entry, we’re going to show you into the engagement session of Haylie & Cole!
When we first met with these two, we knew right away that we’d get along swimmingly with Haylie’s vibrant personality. (The fact she threw out that she’d like to do a “trash the dress” was a good indication & also one of the quickest ways for someone to get in our good graces) When we started discussions for their engagement shoot’s theme, they made it abundantly clear that they wanted to embrace their love of the outdoors, rustic & dilapidated buildings, and Haylie’s favorite movie, “The Notebook”. Our shoot started out on a very remote piece of land that Cole’s family had recently acquired. If one were to wander a ways down one of the paths, there sat a peculiar white bench sitting on the top of a large hill with an expansive view of the woods surrounding it. The bench was there when the family bought the land and it seemed only fitting that these two lovebirds utilize it in their shoot!
We asked our friends Shannon & Michael of Planned Perfection, the equivalent of us in the wedding planning world, for some ideas & they provided us with the inspiration of using the little origami birds in our shoot. They made their appearance early on, in the family’s woods, as did a tree that had grown into another forming nature’s own bench.
When we left the wooded area, we headed to a property that a friend of a friend had inherited and it played in perfectly to their love of the abandoned & aged look. Haylie actually said that, if she could have it her way, she’d love to live in the old house & fix it up “just enough” to be livable – gotta love knowing what you want out of life! I (Jeremy), of course, share their love for the “forgotten” landscapes to shoot at, so I was in heaven when we hit the barn area. Look forward to a recap of Haylie’s bridal in the near future and then their rustic, cotton-themed wedding!
Thank you for stopping by to check out our blog on it’s maiden voyage! We hope to provide you with some fun & beautiful images, quirky stories (look forward to one involving a goat at Haylie’s bridal session, in fact), and a full-access pass into the brain of LunahZon Photography (LZP to those who’ve been around a while)!!
